1. Matthew was a tax collector
   • Stole money to make a living
   • Worked for the pagan Romans
   • Was considered ‘unclean’ by the Jews
2. Jesus called Matthew and dined with him
   • The Pharisees grumbled and complained
   • Jesus was breaking Jewish law
3. Jesus came for the sick (sinners) and not the healthy (self righteous)
   • He calls the weak, broken, and lost
   • He calls us from a life of sin to a life of holiness by the forgiveness of sins
   • He sets a table before us and feeds us the food of heaven
